Interactive PDF Quick-Start User Guides
We were tasked with reimagining a series of “Quick Start Guides” for our client’s pro-grade graphic tablet products. We designed interactive PDF Quick Start Guides tailored for a better on-screen viewing experience to help their customers hit the ground running.
Sidenote: I own the Xencelabs medium tablet bundle and it is outstanding!
Product Brochure
The goal of the this 4-panel product brochure was to capture the reader's interest without bombarding them with too much information. They can always visit the website for details and specs. Simply getting their attention needs to come first. We achieved this by balancing beautiful imagery, text and whitespace. With products this stunning, it made sense to let the photography do the heavy lifting so that's exactly what we did.
Mailer
Our client required a card that could be sent out to their partners promoting their new monthly giving plan.
The colourful Legacy of Hope logo in addition to the large photo with a soft feather on the bottom effortlessly draws the reader in while the program information is presented in a format that is both easy to read and digest. As I often say, "If the client's message gets lost along the way, then you've failed".
25 Inch Wide Information Board
Our client requested a redesign of a product information board for one of their pieces of heavy equipment. The finished piece needed to be clean and organized with solid visual hierarchy.
Trade Publication Ad
Our client tasked us with updating the look and feel of their ads and marketing material. Given that engineering plays such an integral role in the production process of their heavy equipment, we felt the ads should reflect that. This early ad concept features a "blue" blueprint style grid background combined with bold typography creates a strong, cutting-edge feel. At the client's request the blue background was later changed to a charcoal grey grid background.
24" by 36" Wall Calendar
RWF BRON's 2018 wall calendar/poster featured their all new BRON 585 Drainage Plow.
Trade Publication Ad
One of several "quick-turnaround" magazine ads that we do for our client.
WDDS 2014-2015 Annual Report
The challenge on this project was to relay corporate and financial information in a manner that was both informative and a pleasure to read. The design is tasteful and pleasing yet remains rather conservative at it's core.
24" x 36" Wall Calendar for 2022
RWF BRON’s 2022 Wall Calendar. This is one in a set of three. This kind of image editing is so much fun!

Portfolio Folder
This is a multi-purpose portfolio folder that we designed. The client wanted something contemporary and bright that included a handful of images.
Roll-Up Display Banner
The client required a clean and simple, generic display that could be used at a variety of local community events. The design of the display needed to inherit the look and feel of other corporate pieces that we created for them.
Donation Campaign Mailer
This is one piece of a mailer that we designed for the WDDS Expansion Campaign. We chose to go with a relatively clean cover with an off-centre fold to draw people in. The challenge then became clearly laying out all of the required information for easy reading as well as creating a user-friendly donor card.
Logo | Client: Spatter Custom Baits
The client indicated that they wanted their logo to have the feel of the title art for the TV show Dexter. We designed a logo that has a similar vibe, yet is distinct enough to stand on its own.
Branding | Client: Beatty Financial Solutions
The client requested a brand refresh so we designed a clean and minimalist logo graphic that incorporates the letters B and F paired with Calluna and Calluna Sans for the typography. The primary logo was designed in a horizontal orientation and an alternate stacked version was created as well.
Business Cards
This was a quick little branding project for Valerie Rowe RMT. Valerie requested a clean, tasteful and uncluttered design complimented by a bright, harmonious colour pallet.
Serenity Re-Brand
The client was thinking that after nearly twenty years, it might be time for a new logo as well as an injection of colour. My feeling was all she needed was a refresh not a complete redesign. Given that her logo is already well established, I opted to retain the general look and feel but just give it a bit of a facelift. I suggested creating 4 soothing colour variations for variety and visual interest. In addition to the relaxing colour pallet, we simplified the logo, transitioned to a softer font for the body copy and rounded off the hard corners on the card itself. It works!
Logo
This is a logo that we created for Regeneration Outreach's new monthly giving plan.
Mascot Design
I designed this fun little character on the fly while teaching one of my Digital Applications classes at Fanshawe College. I demonstrated to my students how one can take the seed of an idea with a handful of rough hand-drawn sketches and through a thoughtful revision process, work it up to a finished piece of digital vector artwork.
Logo Design
The goal here was to create an energetic and professional logo for Woodstock's minor hockey teams. The aggressively italicized text injects energy while the slight rotation of the logo creates a sense of motion that wouldn't otherwise be achieved if the logo was perfectly horizontal.
The logo further needed to accommodate both home and away jerseys as well as caps, jackets etc. As a bonus I designed a "Jr. Vets" shoulder patch for the jerseys.
Branding
This was a fun little corporate identity piece for an orthodontic lab in London.
Product Brochure
The client required a product folder that could be fastened into a buyer's purchasing binder and as such the piece must accommodate three-hole drilling.
Given that the client's target audience is the heathcare market, I felt it important that the pieces have a very clean, uncluttered, almost sterile feel. This was achieved by a creating an open and airy design utilizing tasteful typography, beautiful close-cropped photos and a generous use of whitespace.
Product Brochure
This piece is just one in a larger series of product brochures designed for insertion into purchasing binders.
The client required a product folder that could be fastened into a buyer's purchasing binder and as such the piece must accommodate three-hole drilling. The brochure inherits the clean, uncluttered design of the previous pieces in the series. Given the large number of product variations, I opted to go with a four-panel fold-out design.
Digest-Sized Tourism Guide
This project was a 64 page tourism guide full of partner listings, editorial content and ads of various sizes. An 8-page coupon insert on uncoated stock was stitched into the middle of the book. The go-to guide for all things Cambridge!
Product Catalogue
This was an extremely enjoyable project to work on. The goal with this catalogue was to promote the client's full-line of retro-styled appliances. Large beautiful photos, tasteful typography and just the right amount of whitespace gets the job done. I love the clean look of this piece!
Sweepstakes Ballots
The client required contest ballots with a 1950s feel. They needed to be clean and easy to read while conveying a sense of fun.
Display Card
This is one of a series of product display cards. The final image is a combination of photo retouching, compositing and just a little illustration.

Concept Product Illustration
This was a fun project. The client wanted to see some product design ideas prior to going into production.
Vector Illustration
This is a personal piece that I did for fun and to keep my vector illustration skills sharp. I love Adobe Illustrator!
Vector Line Art Illustration
This is a vector line art illustration that was created in Adobe Illustrator as a demonstration for my Digital Applications class.
LEGO Canada
For several years, LEGO Canada was my largest client. I produced the Canadian versions of their bi-monthly "LEGO Mania" Magazine for kids, as well as their "Shop at Home Catalogues". These publications were done in both French and English.
Insert Retail Flyer
This design was for a furniture wholesaler and their many retail partners. The headline that I was given was "Blowout Savings Week". To enforce the "Blowout" theme, I created little explosions behind the large, chunky prices.
The prices and dealer information needed to be in black only to accommodate a black plate change for variable pricing and dealer imprints. This is a great cost-saving technique.
Graduation Gift Sell Sheet
This project was a quick turn-around for our client with the graduation ceremony quickly approaching.
Photo Retouching
Our client supplied us with a rather ordinary product photo that was to be used as the "hero image" for a large wall calendar and vinyl banner. We decided that ordinary just wouldn't do. Through the magic of Photoshop and years of experience, we transformed the image into something dramatic and memorable.
Product Retouching
We needed a nice product photo for a rush project but only had this to work with. The finished piece turned out very nice!
Image Retouching
This is an example basic product retouching. Here the overall colour was adjusted to make the food more appetizing as well as enhancing the overall image detail. With the background adjusted to pure white, cast shadows then needed to be created so the products did not appear to be magically levitating in mid-air.
Photo Retouching
In this retouching example, the client asked me to quickly do a little digital landscaping. This was one of those last-minute, quick turnaround requests that I was able to accommodate.
Photo Retouching
In passing, the client mentioned that they wished that they had a winter time aerial photo for the upcoming Christmas cover. After a bit of creative Photoshop work – problem solved. For fun, I added a tilt-shift effect for visual interest.
Interactive Electronic Forms
Creating clear, concise forms that are truly user-friendly continues to be a challenge for many businesses. Nifty Creative Services can design interactive PDF business forms that are clear, organized and easy to fill out. We can bake-in as much, or as little interactivity to suit our clients needs.
Retouching / Illustration
The client requested that the intro page for this section be visually tied to their international campaign that featured catchy headlines set up as the tread on the bottom of their boots.
